The Fasano hotel is certainly the new kid on the block, but unlike most who show up all shy and timid on their first day this bad boy brought a whole new flavour to the Ipanema corner of Arpoador and assumed the position of Mr Popular within days.
From the outside the Fasano looks like a rather modest, modern building but as soon as you enter you know you’re somewhere special. Unlike it’s tiered and dreary hotel friends dotted along the Ipanema strip; Fasano has a fresh, considered, boutique interior which embraces its Brazilian root’s. Designed by Philippe Starck the hotel invokes the spirit of Bossa Nova with 50’s & 60’s golden wood and leather detailed delicious furniture carefully positioned throughout. The breezy reception is welcoming and none pretentious, you could easily chill out after the beach in your flip flops and people watch through the gigantic glass windows for hours, well that is until you discover the pool…….. THE POOL!!!!! The Fasano pool is AWESOME so bring an equally as impressive bikini as this is the place to show off.
DO: If you’re forking out to stay here then pay the extra to get a beach front suite with a balcony (you’ll regret it if you don’t)
TASTE: The coconut water and fig juice by the pool – YUM!
DISCOVER: Bar Londra – the hotels very own take on a British pub.
SEE: Pretty much any celebrity visiting Rio will be here so keep your eyes opened for some celeb spotting! (Lady Gaga, Britney, Cara Delevigne, Kim-yaye, Madge… the list is endless!)
